Why is membership required at all?
We’re a Private Membership Association — think of it like a warehouse club: the membership is what unlocks the convenience. It’s the structure that lets us legally activate the lake space for members: you book through our website, and our delivery hub delivers umbrellas and items to you, on your behalf, as an individual member enjoying the lake. Social, Offline, In-person Link-up — S.O.I.L. — the bedrock of community.
What would this cost without the club?
Go the public-permit route and the math gets ugly: city ordinance permits, public-use approvals, security staffing, fire inspection, and ~60-day waits. A single cabana would have to run $200–$300 just to cover it. Inside the association, you book as an individual member of the club — umbrellas from $5/hr (up to $25/hr on high-demand dates, rotating with demand), cabanas at member rates. Same lake, a fraction of the price — membership is the structure that makes it legal and affordable.
Self-help or full service?
Self-help (free): walk over, pick up your umbrella, set it up yourself — we give you a self-help guide with video. Full service (+$10): we set it up for you. Items from the delivery hub: pick up yourself, or have them delivered to your spot.
Clean restrooms — members only
Your membership also pays for what public space never gets right: clean port-a-potties and wash stations that are NOT open to the public. Every member gets a code — scan the QR at the restroom, enter your member code, and it’s clean every time, reserved for the people who keep it that way.
And the mission?
This is a social club with a purpose. A share of what flows through the club extends the Umbrella Covenant — independent guardians and safe reporting channels protecting children caught in the cracks of the system. You relax; the covenant grows.
